Inspired by the comfort and dignity shown to my family following the loss of my dad in early 2020, I felt the upmost admiration for our humanist celebrant. Echoed later again, but within the glorious celebration of my friends wedding, I was introduced to Anna as she elegantly conducted the humorous yet heartfelt service.
Our paths crossed again a few months later, where Anna facilitated training that I attended with CHA to become a celebrant.
Instantaneously agreeing this was no "chance" meeting, we were destined to collaborate and from there "celebrant good times, together" was created.
My working background has been varied - admin/clerical. hospitality and elderly care. All front- facing, customer focussed roles.
You could say that I am a bit of a late bloomer, I studied with the Open University and gained a Bachelor of Science Degree in 2019.
Some years ago I took a leap of faith and became a Celebrant with the Caledonian Humanist Association. I am authorised to conduct Naming Ceremonies, Funerals, and Legal Marriages. Somewhat late in life I discovered the joys of being privileged enough to be called to conduct services to mark those special journeys in life, the happiest times, and the more difficult times. I have recently reached the age of retirement. However, I have no intention of stopping what I am doing - being a Celebrant is a gift, and I shall never loose that sense of pride in what I do.
Being a celebrant is joyful, powerful and rewarding. Training at the youthful age of 30 with the Caledonian Humanist Association allowed me to grow as a person; it gave me insight into life and death, love and grief, rituals and roles and so much more.
Working full time since leaving school and studying part-time throughout my 20's I achieved my BSc Honours in Psychology and MSc in Mental Health with Psychological Practices. These studies alongside my front-facing career in the public sector has given the opportunity to understand the importance of versatility and individuality with compassion. I respectfully promise to go above and beyond, to present a calm and empathetic ceremony that is fitting with your requests..
Thank you for allowing us to remember, for bringing us laughter through the tears and for being patient with us as we hummed and hawed with our decisions.
As cliché as it sounds, we really couldn't say I do without you!
Thank you for giving our nan such a lovely service. We received lots of compliments on how nice the service was under the sad circumstances. You did me, my mum, my uncle and especially my nan proud.
Thank you for helping us to celebrate the arrival of our daughter! She brings us so much joy and you didn't miss a thing when describing her sass!
We are happy that you were the one who helped us say goodbye. Thank you for everything.
Having gone through so many ups and downs to get to our wedding day, we were so relieved that despite our original celebrant falling unwell, you were able to stand in last minute and ensure our ceremony went ahead as hoped. Thank you also for attending our rehearsal as it really put our minds at ease for the next day.
